PTI Digital are delighted to have been appointed by Scottish Rugby to help create a long-term holistic Data and Digital Transformation roadmap. It will see PTI strategically assessing Scottish Rugby’s future technology, and data and digital requirements.

PTI were appointed following a competitive tender process and the news continues a year of rapid expansion, having been appointed by The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Premiership Rugby, London Legacy Development Corporation, United Rugby Championship, the Scottish FA, Hibernian FC and Gloucester Rugby this year on strategic digital transformation, D2C or venue technology briefs.

Scottish Rugby’s intention is to create a better experience for fans, players, coaches, volunteers and everyone else involved with the game in Scotland through a holistic approach which connects all elements of the game. This approach will enable the development of a genuine Single Customer View and the digital platforms that will sit on top of that will enable year-round engagement and the creation of a much improved value proposition.

The PTI approach to Digital Transformation distils an organisation’s vision into a long-term, detailed and fully-costed roadmap, broken down to fit with our clients’ financial planning cycles, contractual obligations, attitude to risk and other factors peculiar to them. The outcome is a commercial model that is not only able to capitalize fully on big event days but also to enable rightsholders to engage and monetize their customer base year round through the provision of a better value proposition, whilst also identifying operating efficiencies. The result is transformative, whilst broken down into manageable phases and will integrate all three layers of the PTI Digital Transformation Pyramid.

Julian Momen, Chief Commercial Officer at Scottish Rugby Union said, ““We aim to provide our supporters and stakeholders with the best possible Scottish Rugby experience. A big part of that is ensuring that the digital and technology infrastructure that underpins what we do is world class – that is why we are working closely with PTI to develop a data and digital transformation review and roadmap, which will set us up for our future development.”

Mike Bohndiek, Chief Executive Officer at PTI says “We are seeing more and more rightsholders recognizing the need for a holistic approach to their business and participation models, with strategy informing investment requirements in digital, data and technology infrastructure. Scottish Rugby have a very exciting vision for the future of the sport and we are delighted to be able to play a part in helping to realise that.”

PTI’s digital transformation pyramid – which unifies its three core pillars of Venue Technology, Data & Digital and Commercial Strategy – lays the foundation for the holistic digital transformation of sports and entertainment organisations and venues. It is this integrated, efficient approach which begins with strategic intent and is informed by insight and powered by the right technology infrastructure which creates significant commercial advantage over the long-term.
