PTI Digital are delighted to have been appointed by Gloucester Rugby to create and deliver a long-term holistic Digital Transformation Strategy across the entire Club with a key focus on the improvements in customer experience and commercial returns this can generate.

Gloucester Rugby recognized that with rugby’s growing popularity but a commercial model limited to a finite number of fixtures and Kingsholm’s capacity of 16,000, it wanted to build a commercial model that would create greater flexibility, the ability to generate revenue year-round and the ability to balance immediate needs with longer-term goals including attracting and converting younger supporters. It was critical that this approach should be delivered through delivering an enhanced experience both to visitors to Kingsholm and the Club’s supporters across the world.

This news adds momentum to PTI’s exciting start to 2022, having recently been appointed by Premiership Rugby on its D2C strategy and joining existing clients OakView Group & Co-op Live, the London Stadium, Wasps & Coventry Building Society Arena, the NEC Group, Edgbaston Stadium and Norwich City. PTI also announced last month that it had extended its relationship with Bristol Sport & Ashton Gate Stadium for a further four years.

The PTI approach distils an organisation’s vision into a long-term, detailed and fully-costed transformation roadmap, broken down to fit with our clients’ financial planning cycles, contractual obligations, attitude to risk and other factors peculiar to them. The outcome is a commercial model that is not only able to capitalize fully on big event days but also to enable rightsholders to engage and monetize their customer base year round through the provision of a better value proposition. The result is transformative but broken down into manageable phases.

Alex Brown, Chief Operating Officer at Gloucester said, “At Kingsholm we are always striving to innovate and find creative solutions to problems. We have long recognized that there is not much room for manouevre within the confines of our existing model and so it became paramount for us to redefine the model. In PTI we have found partners with extensive experience in the digital transformation space, a deep knowledge of rugby and sport more generally and an accessible and user-friendly approach.”

Mike Bohndiek, Chief Executive Officer at PTI says “We are delighted to welcome Gloucester Rugby into the PTI fold and we are excited to help them deliver on their vision. We believe that rugby has huge growth potential and in recognising that it is the model itself that needs challenging Gloucester are putting themselves ahead of the field – we are looking forward to helping them realise their potential and be rewarded for their brave, innovative approach.

PTI’s digital transformation pyramid – which unifies its three core pillars of Venue Technology, Data & Digital and Commercial Strategy – lays the foundation for the holistic digital transformation of sports and entertainment organisations and venues. It is this integrated, efficient approach which begins with strategic intent and is informed by insight and powered by the right technology infrastructure which creates significant commercial advantage over the long-term.
