PTI is delighted to publish today the third edition of The Sports Leadership Benchmark Report, the leading independent assessment of the UK sports industry’s relationship with data and technology.
In this edition we have zeroed in on Artificial Intelligence and the industry’s readiness for its adoption.
Unsurprisingly, given the previously-reported low levels of sophistication in this space we found an industry that is actively curious about AI but which so far has failed to put proper governance frameworks in place, not only to maximise its potential but also to ensure it avoids falling into the same traps as some companies from other sectors, who failed to understand the necessary pre-requisites for success.
As the report shows we are seeing, anecdotally, some positive moves in the right direction but there is still a huge amount of work needed in building out the data and technology foundations and governance frameworks AI needs to be successful.
Because of the inherent complexities of this space – and also because many organisations in our industry continue to operate without senior technology leads – we have also published the latest in our series of “How to…” guides Making Sense of AI to help sports organisations navigate this tricky time.
