The Sports Leadership Benchmark

Taking our own advice on the importance of being insight-led, earlier this summer PTI started work on a survey of the opinions of senior leaders within sports rightsholders, seeking their views on their organisation’s relationship with data and digital technology and allowing us to establish some industry benchmarks.

The early insights are fascinating.

Whilst there is a definite trend towards pessimism as regards growth of traditional revenues streams we were excited to see “D2C/ Digital Products” as one of the two main drivers of commercial growth…

… however …

♟️    Only 53% have a company-wide data strategy

🤝     Of those who do only 12% consider it to be properly integrated into decision making

🔍     Only 3% believe they are able to extract meaningful insights from their data

Based on our experience, these results are not surprising to us but joining up currently disparate dots represents a huge opportunity for growth.
