PTI Digital are appointed by the NBL as Venue Tech experts to create and deliver a technology roadmap for the redevelopment of the Derwent Entertainment Centre in Hobart, Tasmania.

PTI Digital have secured their first APAC client, joining forces with Australia’s National Basketball League as part of their project team for the redevelopment of Tasmania’s Derwent Entertainment Centre.

PTI’s remit includes identifying the technology needs of the venue, providing clarity on the digital-first fan experience and future-proofing what will be the home venue for Tasmania’s newly-formed NBL team the Tasmania JackJumpers.

With the second and major construction stage of the DEC now underway, PTI’s APAC team – including General Manager Corey Kirby and Head of Venue Tech Ryan Benson and supported by PTI’s global Venue Tech team – will create the roadmap to ensure the technology infrastructure in the redevelopment is suitable to deliver the desired experience and can scale over time to be a first-class arena.

PTI’s immediate responsibility focuses on a fast-paced delivery of the Venue Tech project, ensuring the DEC is ready to be operational in August 2021 ahead of the first match of the season in September, in time for the Tasmania JackJumpers’ entry into the Hungry Jack’s NBL.

The State Government is investing a further $15million into the project, taking the total government spend to $56million, with the intention of the DEC becoming a world-class venue to host global events and become the heart of the community.

Brad Joyner, the NBL’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “PTI Digital will bring vital clarity around Venue Tech requirements for the DEC. We will benefit from their global expertise and ensure we are ready to go for the JackJumpers’ first NBL season as well as having a world class stadium for other major events.

PTI Digital’s General Manager for the APAC region, Corey Kirby, added:

We are thrilled to be working with the NBL on delivering this significant project and creating a venue to be proud of. We have considerable international experience in delivering best-in-class venue technology for innovative stadia and arena projects and we are excited to form this relationship in Australia. The DEC will be a superb venue for the JackJumpers and we’re looking forward to seeing them out there for their first season in October.
